Call us on our freephone number on fill in our online form, we will take your details, confirm eligibility for an NHS sight test which requires a minimum notice time of 48 hours to the NHS. And a 3 weeks’ notice for more than two people at the same home requiring an NHS sight test.  A private sight test can be done at anytime depending on availability.

We will visit at the pre-arranged time after phoning an hour before your appointment to confirm that we are on our way. Please take all your medication and eye drops as normal, have your medication prescription, and any current spectacles ready for us. Our Optometrists will decide on the best area in your home or care home settings to carry out the sight test. The sight test begins with asking you, family members or carers about your eye health and any concerns you have. A fully comprehensive eye examination will be conducted using the most up to date portable equipment, electronic charts and fundus cameras (photos of the retina). We also do glaucoma checks which measure your eye pressure. We may also use eye drops to dilate your pupils to have a better look inside your eye to check for other eye conditions.  If a patient is not communicating, the Optometrist can change testing methods to carry out an eye test.

A discussion of your eye health, prescription changes and if a referral is needed will be done.

You will receive a written record of the outcome of your eye test and the glasses you’ve chosen. We can also discuss accessories, magnifying glasses, daylight lamps, eye nutrition supplements and dry eye management.
